I like it , great for the price!Convenient to be able to cut to the size you need, making it easy to seal anything. Wrap I’d think and durable. Can see a different between vacuum sealed food vs food in baggies in the freezerThese are useful vacuum bags (cut to length) to have on hand for stretching out good deals on food at the grocery store and/or for preparing long term storage of food stuffs. We've used them for meat, oats, nuts, and more. We've still got meat in the freezer that was sealed inside of a cut-to-length section from these vacuum rolls one year ago. The meat is still edible and the bags don't show any signs of defects.I'd recommend them. This is a review of Goscien’s Vacuum Sealer Roll BagsWhat You Get (Figures 1, 2)2 rolls of custom-sizable vacuum bags with a width of 8 inches (0.20m), and a length of 16.5 feet (5m).There are basically two types of vacuum bags: Those that are precut to specific sizes (quart, gallon, etc.), and those that come on a long roll and allow you to cut them to a specific size. These are the roll variety. For example, you need a bag that is 1 foot (0.3m), so you cut off the proper length, and you will have a tube, open at both ends. Use your vacuum sealer machine to seal one end, add your items, and vacuum seal the other end. When I use vacuum bags, I look for several things:1. Are they quality made?2. Are they food safe?3. Will they hold a vacuum seal over time? These bags are of quality construction, and they are BPA free, which means they are food safe. They can also, according to manufacturer, be used in hot-water bath (sous vide) cooking. A BIG plus for me.To test the seal, I cut off three bags, and seal something in each one (usually marbles) One bag is popped into the freezer, one is left on the countertop, and one is put into a sous vide bath. The bags in the freezer and countertop are left for 1 week, while the third bag is immersed into the hot water bath for 24 hours. In all three cases these bags performed flawlessly. As to the hot water cooking method. You can easily create make-ahead meals of things like chicken, beef, corn, green beans, even mashed potatoes. Fully cook them, allow the items to cool, then vacuum seal and toss in the freezer. When you want a quick meal, simply toss the bag into simmering water, and ten-minutes later… Dinner is served.Bottom LineAs a small caterer, vacuum sealing is a way of life, because you can preserve foods over long periods of time without freezer burn and save a lot on your food bills. These quality bags help you to do precisely that… save money.Full Stop.I am definitely new to the vacuum sealing game, only due to finances. In all honesty, putting out that much money ahead of time is a bit nerve-wracking.It wasn’t until I had the chance to review a vacuum sealer (Fresko Hands Free) that I was able to get it (thank you to the Vine program). I also got the pre-measured bags to go along with it.Those bags are fine … to a point.Back when the Tillia (Tilia?) food-saver came out, it was ridiculously expensive, but I believe it had the “rolls” as well. When I saw these, I got them. And, the first chance to try them – I did.As it is just my mother and myself in the household, we do tend to have leftovers. Be it half pizzas, half of almost anything … so we go through a LOT of storage bags.We also get fast food, even stocking up if there’s a X for $X type of sale – mostly sandwiches, burgers. To keep them as fresh as possible I usually used regular bags – freezer type. But, now? I use the vacuum bags.I love the roll, as most reviewers have stated, for the fact I get only what I need. Like half of a pizza. I measure it out (length wise of course), snip on end of the “bag” roll, seal. Slide food in and seal it up. No muss or fuss there – perfectly size storage bag.Even leftover bags of chips get sealed up.Watch on using the DRY or WET settings – you can smash or crush things. I did the DRY with some leftover crescent rolls. It was sad, but funny. But, a bad way to learn a lesson.I will not doubt get these again when I need them. Highly recommend! We usually prepare a lot of meals in advance in portions. We can freeze these and have them ready whenever we want them. We found that vacuum sealing them first keeps them as fresh as possible and really keeps the frost factor down...not a lot of ice crystals and freezer burn going on anymore.Anyway, we use the 8 inch sealing bags constantly for this purpose. These worked exactly like they should. No problems with the impulse heat strip sealing them, and the vacuum drew the air out normally. They worked well in the freezer, and I could cut a vent in the bag and pop it straight in the microwave.I know with my particular sealer, I have to wait 60 seconds for the heat seal to cool. If I don't, the bags don't seal properly. They melt through and the vacuum won't work properly. That is a "problem" (actually normal for my sealer) for my sealer, and not a bag issue. I'd guess that bags with a thicker material may not experience as much of a problem if the heat seal strip overheats, but you will have issues with these bags if your sealer is like mine. You must wait the required 60 seconds or you are going to melt a hole. If you operate as instructed, these are great. No hesitation in buying these again. I may be looking at getting a sealer that solves the heat strip overheating situation, however. These bags are great, though.
