*** UPDATE *** 7/1/22- We have noticed, as posted in other reviews, that the container is beginning to show stress marks and cracking. The vacuum sealing seems to still be ok and is holding out air, but I am disappointed, and I anticipate this will eventually stop being effective. Looked at many styles before ordering this one. I have switched to a human grade dry food for our cat and while it has no special guidelines for storage, I thought a vacuum-sealing container would be beneficial. This holds a 4lb bag of food perfectly. Once I charged the top, I added food. It took about 10 seconds to remove the air. It is supposed to detect when air enters and will activate to maintain the vacuum each time. I am watching to see if, and how soon, it needs to come on. Will update review according and decide on how many stars I should give!!Not strong enough for suction.Worked once and only once. Wrote to company with no answer.It stopped working and doesn’t hold a charge after a few months. The pecans I have in there are now stale.Set up was easy.. I used it to keep 2 different types of rice... Put lid on, press button, easy peasy.The plastic deflects quite a bit so you can see it working. This is a cause of concern because that flexing can cause cracks, and some people have reported that theirs have cracked already.So, my use.. I used it about 4 times, then went on a no-carb thing for about 2 months...Then wanted to make a simple dish including rice, went to put the lid back on and.... red flashing light indicating the battery was dead...Figured it was just a fluke... recharged it.... came back 3 weeks later, same thing.... had to recharge it.I did notice it has a flashing light on it... Likely some thing to indicate it still has vacuum, but it needlessly kills the battery.I was intending on using this in an RV to keep things fresh, but glad I tested it at home first. The constant need for recharging makes this a no-go.I will be looking for containers with vacuum seals that use a separate vacuum pump and not something that has the pump and batteries built in.After having it for a couple of weeks and it seemingly worked fine, it wouldn’t keep pressure and I found a huge crack in the side. If I hadn’t already thrown out the packaging I would have returned it. I would avoid this product.It breaks very soon just after two use. Really disappointed.
