I had purchased a few Potane canisters previously that sealed very well and were easy to clean.So when my $300 "Commercial grade" vac sealer died I needed a port canister/vacuum bag sealer because I seal food storage containers most of the time. When I sous vide fish,chicken and meats, I don't vacuum seal the bag until it's finished cooking because I make an open bag from the roll long enough to immerse the bag completely. This prevents floating bags during the sous vide process. So this machine works as advertise so far, only time will tell. Just make sure the lid door is locked tight or the machine won't vac or seal. Appears well made and thought out, takes up less counter space at a reasonable price and 5 year warranty
