The sealer works very well, once you remember to totally seal the storage bag when filled with the produce, etc, you want to preserve. If the bag is not finger sealed completely, the sealing unit cannot pull out all of the air that is left in the bag after loading the bag. Once the bag has been totally 'finger sealed' you simply place the sealer on top if thedisc on the bag, turn on the sealer and the sealer will pull all of the air out of the bag and automatically turn off the sealer for you. The connection will be tight so you simply give a little tug and the sealer can be removed. It's a good idea to pick the right size bag and to add the loose items flat in the bag and then seal ethe bag.
