The bags performed well at keeping there seal. The hand pump is rather like a small bicycle tire pump. It can be a little tricky to position it over the seal so that it can pump out the air from the bag. Compared to the more common electric food sealers this is less sophisticated but is well worth the price savings. It is especially useful for those who want to use these bags for sous vide cooking. If you just want an inexpensive way to vacuum seal foods for the freezer this is a great value.I know that one "benefit" compared to the electric vacuum sealers the bags here are supposed be reusable. I found cleaning the to be a bit of a bother though so don't recommend them for that if that is one thing that attracts you to this product.
