We have a 20+ year old FoodSaver machine that we use several times a month. We noticed it wasn't sealing all the way across the bag and assumed it was time to get a new machine. Upon closer inspection, we noticed the heat bar had several "bald spots" that matched up with the non-sealing areas. We tried to find a replacement bar to no avail. We finally came across a comment on a vacuum sealer website that said to just replace the Teflon tape strip. So....we removed the old tape, cleaned the bar, trimmed to fit with the new Teflon tape and gave it a few trial runs. We are now good to go for hopefully many more years! Works like new!
