Ok, I’ve had this for 6 months or so, and use it nearly daily. First the good: it does everything it’s supposed to. It works pretty well actually, and while it’s much more expensive than the other style of vacuum sealer the bags are so much cheaper it evens out pretty fast if you use it a lot. The other disadvantage of this vs the foodsaver style are that you have a hard limit of how large a thing you can seal. I’ve found about a pineapple is the largest thing I can fit under the lid. The advantages of this style are that it’s much easier to seal liquids, it’s cycle time is much faster, and the heating element is much thicker so you have a much better seal. This makes close to a 1/4” seal, my foodsaver is closer to 1/8”.On to this one in particular:It doesn’t come with oil, (which is stated in the description) and the oil that was in it from the factory leaked all over it and the box.It was loud and rattled till I put cloth tape on all the mating surfaces between the top and bottom. You need to take those apart anyway to put the oil in.The controls are simple and the preset from the factory works well for most foods. There are a few things I’d really like to see changed though. The cycle of operation is to vacuum for a set period of time, then seal for a period of time, then cool for a time, then dump the vacuum. All of these times are adjustable. I’d love to see a vacuum activated option instead of/in addition to the time option. In other words, instead of just running the vacuum pump for 30 seconds, run till it reaches a set amount of vacuum, then seal. Next, once you start the cycle you only have the option of hitting the stop button or waiting for it to finish. I’d like to see a button to automatically seal. This would be useful for certain kinds of food that boil in the low pressure and try to escape.Speaking of which, this thing is extremely difficult to clean. It requires disassembly of the sealing bar to get any kind of clean. You have to pull two nuts to disconnect the wires to pull the sealing bar off, and if you had any kind of spill you have to take the bar apart as well to get it clean. There’s an air bladder under the sealing bar that doesn’t come out but gets gross underneath that needs regular cleaning also. The air bladder has aluminum ends crimped on, and they get galvanic corrosion on them if they get moist (and the inside of the sealer gets very moist) so I put some electrical tape on them to hopefully keep them from corroding. The foam tape holding the upper sealing bar to the lid isn’t food grade, and started to mold between the bar and the lid. I had to take the upper bar off, clean off the remaining adhesive, and apply new double stick tape. The instructions are pretty near useless, but there’s enough YouTube videos out there to get you going. This did come with a handful of unexplained accessories, which I figured out are spares for the sealing bar heating element and anti-stick cover. I hope I can find where to get more of these as I’ve already put on the second set.
